Music in the Shop

The Newtown Book & Record Exchange and the historic Newtown Theatre are teaming up to offer a series of intimate, in-store concerts. Each “Music in the Shop” concert will feature local musicians or bands playing in cozy confines of the Book & Record Exchange.

The first concert will feature Katie Frank and Cecilia Ferneborg on Friday, February 7. Doors open at 7:15 PM and the music starts at 7:30.

A veteran of the Philadelphia music scene, Katie Frank is a singer-songwriter with some sass in her brand of roots rock music. When she sings, you’ll believe what she’s saying. Her “seemingly-effortless” sound, complete with catchy hooks and confident vocals, commands attention. After spending several years in Nashville and releasing “Small Town Minds” in 2021, Katie has returned to her home city of Philadelphia and is working on a new album due to be released in 2025.

Cecilia Ferneborg is a Swedish-American singer and songwriter. She writes sensitive chamber-pop songs with an outlaw country flair. Born in rural Sweden, Cecilia was raised on Swedish fiddle tunes, Appalachian music, and 90s euro-pop. After moving to the U.S. in her teens, she began a performing career that would place her in songwriter rounds, listening rooms, and rock clubs.
